Thank you so much for playing for us on our big day. Your playing was wonderful and your music selections were spot on. You added grace and elegance to the day. To come down the aisle to your beautiful version of Offenbach’s Barcarolle was a moment I shall never forget. From first meeting you and your helpful suggestions, through to your professionalism on the day, we couldn’t have hoped for better. We have no hesitation in recommending you to others.Katrina
Jane and Emma performed wonderfully at our Wedding at Dalhousie Castle in July. We relied heavily on their expertise to put together a selection of songs that would fit the occasion and they did it perfectly. They took the time to meet us in person beforehand to discuss our wishes and even visited the venue to ensure everything was just right for us. Both Jane and Emma were friendly and professional throughout and we would have no hesitation recommending them to anyone in the future.David and Charlene

“Thank you very much to Spectrum for creating such a beautiful, peaceful and warming atmosphere at our recent daffodil afternoon tea party at the Marie Curie hospice in Edinburgh. All of our guests commented on the lovely music which provided such a wonderful backdrop for the day. We would not hesitate to use your services again.”Marie Curie hospice
The idea for the musical duo Spectrum came about from two friends wanting to explore the musical possibilities from combining the beautiful sounds of their instruments, the flute and cello. They put together a repertoire of a wide variety of musical styles that would give them the opportunity to enjoy playing for others and help to create an elegant, relaxed atmosphere for any occasion.
Since forming Spectrum, Jane and Emma have performed at weddings, afternoon teas and other special events. These performances have always been much appreciated and Spectrum has received some lovely testimonials. Jane and Emma have also been delighted to use their musical talents to support events at the Marie Curie Hospice in Edinburgh and The Spartans FC and also to raise money for Prostate Cancer.
Jane has loved and played the flute since early childhood. She was a quarter finalist in the woodwind stage of the Young Musician of the Year in 1981. She has a performance diploma in the flute and is a qualified Suzuki flute teacher. She now teaches flute and piano to children and adults. Bringing music into people’s lives both as a teacher and a performer brings Jane immense joy and satisfaction.
Emma has enjoyed playing a challenging range of music with the Edinburgh Symphony Orchestra since 2004 and has led the cello section for the last two years. She also plays an eclectic choice of music regularly with a string quartet, just for fun. Music has always played a large part in Emma’s life and she loves the impact that it can have on people.
